ARMS DOWN. HEAD BACK. HOLD ON.

Tuesday May 24, 2005

Went with Rae and Jolly on a quick road trip to New Jersey to 6 Flags: Great Adventure to ride the new Kingda Ka coaster. It. Was. Awesome. I don't talk much about it on here cause I think everyone should experience them for themselves, but I'm a huge fan of roller coasters and I hit a few theme parks every year to fill my quota. I ended up skipping my trip back in December cause Becks wanted to do a big Xmas dinner with the whole family and Paul's family so I was really looking forward to this trip.

I got into coasters about a decade ago, before that I was super scared and always waited with Mom at the exit while Rachel and Becks rode thme. Sometimes Mom would buy me an ice cream to make me feel better, but she would also get my sisters one after so I don't think it really counts. Whatever, can't complain. But one time Becks was out with friends instead and Rachel doesn't like to ride next to strangers so I volunteered to go with her, and it was lifechanging. I made her ride like 6 more that day or something. It's cool, cause now we go on these road trips together. Jolly is my friend from high school. He's usually at college (Suck it, Beavers!) and we go when he comes home for semester breaks.

Now to talk about Kingda Ka. So, for those of you who aren't in the know, Kingda Ka is the fastest, tallest roller coaster in the USA and WORLD. It works via a hydraulic launch system that gets the cart to 128 MILES PER HOUR and 456 FEET TALL with an American flag on top. It's bright green and the ride itself is kinda short. But the queue was super excellent, cause you got to cross under the launch track. The ride is themed like a jungle, so there's tons of bamboo everywhere and jungle music playing. I don't really care about it, but Jolly was upset we didn't get to ride the orange cart so we went on again after and also didn't get orange, ha ha.

Anyway, I was hoping to get this posted by midnight but if you're reading this you know I failed by like an hour. I even made Rachel speed on our way home which I know she hates cause she has like a million tickets already. :P

OK, other than that life has been chill. I finally cracked open the cookbook Rachel got me and have been making us breakfast on days when Autumn stays over. I usually end up making too much food because they both like sweet stuff for breakfast but I like savory and I made it for everyone so I've been giving some to the neighbors. I like our neighborhood because everyone is super nice and social versus the apartment complex we used to live at because we had this really rude neighbor whose name I won't say but those who know, know. She would always leave her trash on the doorstep even though trash removal wasn't a service the complex offered and called the cops on us a few times after we were too loud according to her after 10 PM. But she made like really good muffins so I guess we were kinda even and I also guess that I kind of miss her playing old records in the mornings on weekends.

Rachel's friends have been coming over ot play poker more often which sometimes I play but sometimes I don't. they're nice and I invited Will one time and he said he enjoyed it even though he lost really badly and hasn't come again. Actually one of them is in a band and invited Rachel and me to see him play at his bar and his guitarist was sick so I was kinda hoping they would ask me to fill in even though I haven't played in a few years and don't know all the songs. But then it turns out the bar double booked them with another band so it didn't end up mattering.

That's pretty much it.

Edit: I know it's like 3AM but I can't wake up Rachel about this after driving all day and it weirded me out so much I don't know that I'll be able to sleep tonight. Basically after I finished posting I went to the kitchen to have some chips and stuff before bed. I was filling up my water at the sink cause I forgot to replace the jug before I left and I noticed a deer standing in the field behind our house. I swear it was just staring at me for like 5 minutes. There's also like a line of trees a little further out and there used to be a fence but Rachel didn't like it so we had it removed, but the grass is a little fucked up from it still. And all along the side of the forest there were like 30 deer, just staring into my window. I know there are lots of deer this year in the woods but I still thought it was pretty weird. I walked out onto the back porch to see them closer and they just stood there. They weren't still, they were like walking around in place a little and eating grass every once in a while and stuff, and when I shone my flashlight on them they ran away, but I was still really spooked. I had to make sure the doors were locked like 10 times when I finally went back inside and I'm keeping the flashlight in my room tonight just in case. I don't know, man, it was eerie.
