CHECKING OUT THE DEER
Monday April 11, 2005
So... I'm not sure if I'm going to continue this website. No one is mad exactly, but apparently when they said they wanted to hear more about what was going on in my life, it meant they wanted me to call more often. Which means no one has been reading my journal entries. I'm not disappointed exactly, cause I know they're busy. I know people have finals or kids or jobs that make them so busy. I just spent so much time coding this site that it seems like a waste to just abandon it. I don't really know what else I would make it though and honestly it has been kind of relaxing.
Other than all that, my week has been pretty good. I took Autumn down to the edge of town by the highway and that patch of forest. People have been going down there to take photos of the deer. The state forest service said there are a record number of deer for the last few months or something along those lines. They're not sure where they're coming from or why there are so many. They're super adventurous too. They'll all stand out by the highway for hours which is how people are getting the photos. I thought they were edited until I saw them myself. One of my regulars is this old guy who has a camera collection and stuff and he showed me some of the pictures he got before the crowds got big. Sadly when I went down there it was after school got out and some teenagers were trying to get close to them and a few people told them off. The deer would run away if they got too close but one guy nearly pet one. We left after that because I was worried Autumn would get inspired or the people were going to start fighting. It made me feel really old to be talking about teenagers like that but I think they should've just left the deer alone. I don't know, maybe I'll become a save the whales person but for deer and campaign for them to be relocated from the side fo the highway or something.
I told Rachel my idea and she laughed and said it sounded like one of my phases. She apologized a few hours ago but it's too late. I went down to the grocery store and got some 5-gallon buckets from the bakery and made a compost bin. I still have to get the worms but I'm pumped. Rachel said she is cool with it but we have to keep it outside off the porch.
I ended up going to coffee with Will and trying the place in town but it was kinda overpriced. It was cool to catch up, Will is a nice guy. Basically our conversation got me a little in my head though because I was thinking about how I didn't end up moving to a city like I wanted after high school. At the time, I was really messed up about my dad so I think it's good I stayed, plus I like being by my family but I think it would be cool to live in a city where noone knows you. Will lived in a friend's garage in Chicago or somewhere near there which was kinda my dream. It's not too late to try it but I just got my own bed so I'll have to find somewhere that's not another couch haha.
That's all I have for updates because I've been working a lot again but Brenda said she will hire someone so I can even go down to part time if I want. I said that is too much, but a 2-day weekend would be nice especially so I can take a few days off and go camping or something.
